Allowing off-duty police to carry guns within 1000 feet of school grounds

On January 25, 2012, in the Committee on Criminal Justice and Corrections, there was a hearing on 2011 Assembly Bill 299. The bill, according to Joel Kleefisch’s testimony, was introduced to “allow off-duty, out of state, and retired law enforcement officials who have been trained and authorized to posses firearms to carry their firearm within one thousand feet of school grounds.” Chief David Moore testified with Kleefisch.
